Week 2: The Christians
The title Christian was given in Antioch by outsiders. Those outside the church viewed Jesus as nothing more than a failed revolutionary. The church had made itself looks much like Jesus that outsiders saw his followers as little versions of Him. It is possible they used it as an insult but it means belonging to Christ and they turned it into a self-designation. Oh, to live such a life as to be thought of like that! Gandhi says, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
