This is the first complaint that comes from the prophet. How long will the Lord sit back and let this all happen? This is often the cry from the people of God to an unfair world, but this cry comes from the people of God that are dismissing the righteous. God must not be paying attention because the wicked seem to win. And yet…God has His first response (1:5-11). And Yet…even when God’s ways seem odd, we trust.
