Sermon for August 2nd, 2020 Summer Concert Series 2020 This is the third Summer we have done this series. We take a look at different pop songs over the generations and see what we can mine from the lyrics and the intent on the songs. Culture is not evil and God can use even those far from Him to communicate a message to us. We’ll spend the next five weeks looking at different songs and see what God teaches us through his word. Week 1: You’ve got a friend in me- Randy Newman This song is used as the theme song to Toy Story which was released in 1995. The song is about having a friend that is there for you. Your friend will help you and guide you through life when there are tough times. Do you have friends that you can depend on? Or do you find that they can be flaky? We have a friend in Jesus. Jesus calls us friends when we do what he has told us. That is a dependable friend who then tells us to love one another, building relationships is what it is all about. Listen to the message today and be challenged by God’s Word.
